June 16 thru 19, 2011 our club and the city of Louisville will be the center of the bonsai world. Our club will host the ABS/BCI annual meeting and show. These two organizations normally have their individual show and meeting at some major city in the world. In 2011, they will have a joint meeting in Louisville which we will host. This will also be a celebration of our 40th year as a club. Our members have a lot to be proud of. This is a great bonsai society.

The reason for this article is to alert our club members that to put on a show, we will need our very best trees prepared in flawless condition. We will need a total of 50 trees, but we will have help from our neighboring clubs in Indianapolis, Nashville and Cincinnati. I will be making personal appearances at each club to request their aid in supplying a few trees from each of them. I’ve already talked to members of Indy and Nashville clubs. I’ll be displaying at the Nashville show and I’ll make a request for trees and help at that time.

I’m now making an appeal to our members for your best trees for the show. We’ll need approximately 25 to 30 trees. I’ll be calling you to find out what you can prepare and have ready to show. This is a major show and people from all over the US and parts fo the world will be here. This is our opportunity to put on a 1st class show for the rest of the world.

BCI is also involved in displaying viewing stones and I am planning on showing approximately 15 top quality suiseki. Please let me know if you have a nice viewing stone or can get one. They will have to be displayed on a Daiza. Call me and give me a description of the stone – 222-7419

I can hardly wait to get started. This is going to be fantastic.

Regards - Earl
