Paul Weishaar, President of the Indianapolis Bonsai Club, has informed me that there will be a bonsai exhibit this year at the Indiana State Fair. The fair starts August 7, and bonsai will be featured over the first weekend. The display will be held in the Horticultural Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The exhibit is open to Indiana residents only, so those GLBS members north of the river are eligible. If you are interested in exhibiting one (or more) of your bonsai, deadline for applications is August 1. There is no entry fee. Entries will be divided into 3 classes - two judged and one for exhibit only. Bill Valavanis will judge the two open classes.
Security will be tight and handled by members of the IBC along with State Fair personnel. The trees will be on exhibit from August 7 through August 12.
I have asked John to post the application form and complete rules on our web site.
