The Yew Dell show was a great success with about 60 trees shown by our members. We now have the 40th Art In The Arbor show coming up. The show runs from 10 am to 6pm on Saturday, May 10, and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, May 11. This is an art fair with about 100 artists and is held on the back property of Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church at 4936 Brownsboro Road (Hwy 22). The fair is set among the trees and even has the Kentucky state record Black Locust tree located in the middle of the artists. Five to six thousand people visit the fair on a nice weekend. This should be great exposure for the bonsai society.
We will set up on Saturday morning between 8 and 9 am. Due to limited parking on the grounds, the fair patrons come in on shuttle busses from nearby parking areas. Do not park in the shuttle area when delivering trees, but come in the main entrance to the church (just tell the folks at the gate that you are bringing in bonsai trees - they will be expecting you). Drive to the back of the property; and, as you turn and pass the barn, you will see our set-up area to your right. After you deliver your trees, please go to one of the shuttle parking areas on Herr Lane or in the Crossgate neighborhood on Brownsboro Road. The shuttle should come by in just a few minutes and will drop you off at the entrance of the fair. We will need to pick up our trees on Sunday afternoon between 4 to 5pm.
Last year at this show, we had a great time, answered a number of questions from the attendees, signed up several new members, and sold a number of plants. This is a great venue for a bonsai show, and we all had a great time. Plan to attend to help out, and, of course, you can get some great craft items and art work.
