Last month I requested that all members compile a list of items that they have that belongs to the club. I have not heard from anyone on this. Please let me know ASAP if you have anything that belongs to the club. We need to take inventory of those items that are available to us.

The Garden Tour last month was a complete success. If you were in attendance I'm sure you would agree. Thanks to the Cormney's, Blaney's, and Squires for their hospitality. A great time was had by all, and we all came away with some great ideas for our gardens. We also saw some fabulous trees both living and dead. We all were amazed with the realism of the 'artificial' trees of Dick Blaney.

The Trim and Talk meeting on June 16th went very well. We had a lot of new and newer faces show up to learn, talk, and trim bonsai. If there is any interest we will try to schedule another one of these meetings in the future.

July will be a busy month for the Greater Louisville Bonsai Society. We have been asked to put on a display and sales area for the Old Louisville Garden Club Garden Tour on July 7-8th from 10 AM to 5 PM both days. We need all members to show a tree, help setup, and work the display and sales area. We will be setting up Saturday morning July 7th about 8 AM in the Kling Center, 219 W. Ormsby. Give Gene Sewell a call and let him know how many trees you plan to display and when you will be available to work. This is the first time we have been asked to do this show. We need to make it a success. The manager of the Kling center said that last year they had over 1000 people attend. This means a lot of people will be coming through our exhibit each hour, so we will need a lot of help answering questions and helping make the sales.

We will be taking a Field Trip to Cass Bonsai Gardens (outside of St. Louis) on July 14th. They have a large assortment of quality bonsai trees in every size, shape, and color. They also have a large variety of pots, tools, soil, and much more. Anyone interested in attending please RSVP by Thursday, July 12th so that we know who and how many to expect. We will meet Saturday morning at 7:30am at the Ramada hotel on Zorn Ave. Return to Louisville will be in the early evening. We hope to see you there.

The Nashville Bonsai Society has invited the members of the Greater Louisville Bonsai Society to display some of our trees at their regional show in Murfreesboro, TN on July 28-29. The show will be held on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. Other clubs in the region have also been invited to display - they expect about 10 clubs. There also will be 9 vendors offering a variety of bonsai necessities. Matt Ouwinga will hold a BYOT workshop on Saturday, but reservations are required for this workshop. We will have 2 tables available to show a small number of trees. If anyone is interested in driving down to this show, please be sure to let me know. We will need a few good trees to represent Louisville in this show. If you are not available to attend but still wish to have a tree displayed please let me know, I will have some extra space to take a few trees down with me.
