Our September 17th event will be something new and enjoyable - a field trip to Hollander's Tiny Trees at Chrisney Indiana. This is located south of I-64 at the Dale, Indiana exit. George Buehler has made all the arrangements and it looks like it's going to be both exciting and rewarding. Due to the cost of gas, we are encouraging members to car and van pool. Plans are for us to meet at the Ramada Inn at I-71 and Zorn Ave at 9 AM. We will depart the Ramada Inn at 9:15 AM. This should give us plenty of time to get to Hollanders by 10 AM CENTRAL TIME. When we arrive Greg will have snacks and drinks for the club plus a Drawing for $50.00 worth of bonsai trees. Wow! What a wonderful Gift. George tells me there will also be discounts on many trees. From there we will precede to Dave Bogan's home, a bonsai collector in Lynneville, IN. Dave has over 200 trees. From here we will proceed back home. George has detailed directions, as well as more information on page two. Note that we will stop at the rest area immediately before the Dale exit for a "potty" break and for everybody to catch up.

Our plans for October are to put on a bonsai show October 1 at Hidden Hill Nursery in Utica, Indiana. This is owned and operated by Bob Hill, columnist for the Courier Journal. The club went there last fall and, as most of you will remember, we had a wonderful time. Bob is promoting the show in his newsletter and this is mailed to 3,400 people. He also e-mails the newsletter to 4,000 people, so we expect a great turnout. We will need about 30 trees and, of course, club members to be at the show. Hidden Hill Nursery is open from 9 AM to 6 PM. Bob would like us to arrive around 8 AM, so we can set up and arrange the trees. We will be selling chances on our raffle tree plus, promoting our beginner workshops and memberships in the club. Our beginner workshop is scheduled for November 1st, 7PM at the Bon Air Library. This should be a great show and a wonderful location for a bonsai show. Please make plans to attend and bring your best trees.

My wife, Sandy, has been talking to me about having a night out for the lady bonsai members and wives or lady friends of the male members. She mentioned bunco or dinner or something you can all share a good time together. If you are interested, please call me or Sandy with your ideas and willingness to participate.

Best Regards - Earl
