Our feature bonsai show will be held this year at the Yew Dell Gardens in Crestwood, KY. The dates will be Saturday, May 14, from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday, May 15, from 12 Noon to 4 PM. Set up for the show will be Friday, May 13, starting at 4 PM. Location of the garden is on the east side of Crestwood on Highway 146 and north of Camden Lane [From I-71 North take exit 17 and turn right toward Crestwood. The garden will be on the left about 1.5 miles after the interstate exit). If you need additional directions, you can call Yew Dell at 241-4788. We will need approximately 40 trees and stands. Please send a description of the trees you plan to exhibit to George Buehler so he can make up name placards for each tree. We will need members to be present at the show as we will have to man three different locations: the castle, the deck garden and the lecture barn. If you can give a little time, call Gene Sewell at 635-7704.

Klein poured his creativity into this outstanding private horticultural collection. The inventory of trees and shrubs in the arboretum lists over 1,100 individual specimens, with 114 different genera, 240 species and 528 cultivars. Some of these cultivars are plants that Klein himself selected, propagated, named and introduced to the nursery trade, including varieties of redbuds, dogwoods, maples and hollies.

The bonsai society is extremely fortunate to be selected as the group to open this year's Yew Dell season. May 14 and 15 will start Yew Dell's season. Let's all jump in and make this a great show.
