The March 19th meeting will feature guest artist Dana Quattelbaum. From 10 am till 12 noon, Dana will do a demonstration styling a Shimpaku Juniper and from 1 PM till 4 PM he will hold a workshop using members’ trees. You can bring your own tree or order one from Brussel’s Nursery. Dana is the production manager at Brussel’s and will bring material for you to work on if you want him to. Several of the club members and I went to the Feb 5th preview sale and he showed me some good workshop trees. They had the following: Flowering Quince ($32.50), Korean hornbeam ($75.00), pyracantha ($75.00), Shimpaku ($100.00), black pine ($95.00), Trident Maple ($38.00), Chinese quince ($38.00), Procumbens juniper ($95.00). All of these have at least a 20% discount. If you are interested in ordering on, please call me at 222-7419 and I will have Dana bring it when he comes on the 19th of March. By the way the demo workshop will be at the Bon Air library.

Dana began working with bonsai in 1996 after he was introduced to the art form at the Memphis Bonsai Mother’s Day Show. He studied under Shane Cary, Kathy Shaner, Atsushi Fukushima, and others including Brussel Martin.

Dana is in great demand as a lecturer, demonstrator and managing private collections. He is currently the production manager of Brussel’s Bonsai nursery, a very demanding job.

The cost of this workshop is only $35.00 (plus cost of tree if you want to order one).
