On Saturday Oct. 9th, Sandy and I would like to invite everyone to our house for a day of food, fun and bonsai. We will start at 10 AM and conclude around 7 PM. The complete schedule of events is presented on the website, as well as a map to my house. If you want to see something particular, you can come and go at your pleasure. Obviously we would like you to stay for the entire day.
All the club members who made pottery at the workshop will be glazing their pots at 10 AM and Linda Kossmann will be placing the pots in a large fire pit. She will start the fire somewhere around 10:30 and continue the firing all day. This is where we will be cooking the hot dogs and brats. Through out the day there will be demonstrations, discussions, games, auctions, food and an ugly tree contest.
In case of rain, we will reschedule the outing for Oct 23rd. For this picnic the club will furnish the hot dogs, brats, drinks, plates and utensils. Each family should bring a dish and a dessert. In addition to food, you may want to bring a folding chair, roasting sticks, camera and if you have an extra table, bring it along. This will be a great opportunity to sell or trade some of the extra bonsai related materials. For items you want to donate to the club, we will have a live auction at 3 pm. For items you want to sell and keep the proceeds, we will schedule a silent auction or you can put a price tag on the item and sell to whoever wants to buy. Of course you can trade and swap all day.
We’ve never had this type of outing before but I think you will have a great time. Be sure to bring friends and family.
Thanks to the efforts of Gene Sewell, we will be having a fall bonsai show at Green Tree Mall on Oct. 16 and 17. Set up will be Friday Oct 15th in the evening. We haven’t done this show in several years and it’s exciting having it back on the schedule. Tables will be provided so all you need to do is bring your best trees, hopefully some with fall color. Gene says we will need about 35 trees and of course he will need volunteers to help work the show. It’s really not work because we have a lot of fun talking about our hobby and it’s always fun seeing our beautiful trees. If you can get there to enjoy the fun, call Gene at 635-7704.
