Our September meeting will be something new and different. We will be going to Hidden Hill Nursery in Utica Indiana, 9 miles north of Louisville (Directions listed below). Our plans are to meet at the nursery at 10 AM Saturday Sept 18th. Some of you may want to get together and car pool to save on gas expense.

Hidden Hill has been featured on Home & Garden TV’s Secret Gardens and was named by the Indianapolis Star as one of the state’s “Top Ten Fun Places” to visit. It includes hundreds of rare and unusual trees and shrubs, playful fountains and an outdoor “G” scale model railroad. Garden whimsy includes landscaped berm, sculptural trellises, folk art flowers, stone benches, and a 150 ft. wooden caterpillar. They also offer for sale hundreds of exotic perennials, shrubs, and trees, including a wide variety of native plants. Groups of 15 or more receive a 10% discount on all products.

Owner Bob Hill—who doubles as a Louisville Courier Journal newspaper columnist —will give us a one hour
guided tour. Lunch is available at a nearby restaurant
and a trip through the gift shop will be lots of fun.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 18th.

We have also been planning the Oct 9th meeting at our house and it’s going to be a day of fun, food, games, demos (lots of demos), and sales of all your extra bonsai items. Here a partial list of what we will be doing:

pit firing pottery, lots of food (brats, hot dogs, etc.), auction of bonsai items, trade and sale, silent auction, demos—die grinder, tree styling, bonsai stand top, muck making, moss planting, winter mulching, and accent plants.

There also will be games with prizes.

Be sure to come and invite your family and friends and bring some extra folding chairs. More information will follow in the October newsletter.
