All those who attended the garden tour saw some excellent gardens. It was unfortunate that the weather was somewhat wet but it was still an enjoyable day. We all thank Lee, Tommy and Linda for hosting the tour.
On July 24, we will hold a pottery workshop at Sacred Heart Academy from 10-3 PM. Linda Kossmann will conduct the workshop and give instructions for making your pot. Price of the workshop will be $10.00 per person. Linda advises there is nothing to bring except your ideas and a lunch if you don't want to go out to The Fishery. Linda will provide three types of clay: high and low fire white, red low fire, and rustone high fire as well as clay for the pit firing meeting in October. Linda will advise on the benefits of each type and will give general techniques of pottery.
The size, quality, and number of pots one can make in the allowed time varies, but Linda advises to spend some time on a very well made medium size pot and then make some for the pit firing. For those attending the workshop, there will be a second meeting to glaze the pots.
The workshop will be held in Building 19, third floor at Sacred Heart Academy. Go to the main entrance on Lexington Road and drive straight ahead. Linda will have signs at the door to direct us to the 3rd floor.
This workshop is always a fun event and in addition, you get to come home with a nice addition to your bonsai pot inventory. Please phone ahead to let Linda know you plan to attend so she can be prepared. Her number is: 339-9539. Ron Smith would like to announce the following:
