You may have noticed a slightly different look for the Bonsai Newsletter. Hopefully, you think it was an improvement. I realize there were several “goofs” in the last issue. We are doing this newsletter in Microsoft Publisher. It was the first time I had used it and it caused some challenges to say the least. Those of you who get the electronic version, I apologize for the delay in getting it out. We will do better this time (I hope).

We will be starting a new section for the newsletter called “More than just Tofu”. Midge Goeth came up with the idea and has suggested that this can be a column where members share their growing tips, successes or failures. Midge even “volunteered” to do the first issue. As Midge said, ’many members have tried a number of different techniques - wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could have some of them in writing for others to try’. This is a great idea. Please send me some of your tips and we will include them in the newsletter. This is a great way to share your “secrets” with the other members. They don’t have to fill a whole column. If we get several from a number of members, we can make this a monthly event.

You might want to look at www.louisvillebonsai.org, John Callaway has started a Louisville bonsai site for us. He is looking for information and pictures to post on the site. Let John or me know what you think of the site and what you would like included. This is no easy task and we thank John for setting this site up.

We would like to ask that all submissions to the newsletter be received by the 20th of the month before the next issue. This deadline is being set so that we have the opportunity to get it into Publisher. Please send your submissions in Microsoft Word electronically to George or by ‘snail’ mail.
