At the August 12th meeting, Earl described a number of techniques he tried to make a slab. It appears that Earl left no stone unturned in his quest to make a light, yet strong slab as some of the pictures below and on page 8 shows. Earl, with the help of Ronnie Baumer, finally settled on a mixture of vinyl cement and sand with a chicken wire base. He added some concrete colorant to the mix to obtain a more natural rock color. He cautions that when adding the colorant, try a little first to determine the affect. It seems that different colors can be obtained depending on the ratio of the sand/vinyl cement/colorant used. As usual, Earl presented a great program. Now we can’t wait to see what he puts on the slabs he made.
